Herbs for sufferers of Diabetes

Written by: Export Herbs

diabetesAn estimated 46 million people with diabetes struggle daily with too little or too much sugar in the bloodstream.  In the case of too little, which may come from complications by medicine, they experience dizziness, headaches, sweating, trembling and fatigue. In extreme cases, they may lose consciousness and comas. In the case of too much sugar in the bloodstream, the person may feel weak, fatigue, hard to breath, excessive thirst and once again, lose consciousness.

Poorly controlled diabetes may result in blindness, heart disease, kidney failure, high blood pressure, strokes and limb amputations.

Once a person has been diagnosed by a doctor who ran the necessary tests, it becomes easier to manage. There are a range of herbs that can be used at home to control the varied levels of blood sugar in the body.

Cinnamon is perhaps one of the most commonly known herbs used by diabetics. They usually sprinkle it over oatmeal as a breakfast option, add it to tea and food or drink a cinnamon tea.diabetes

Fenugreek seeds can be boiled and that water can be taken to also stimulate blood sugar levels in the body. Clinical trials have found that it reduces the rate in which sugar is absorbed during digestion of foods. It has also shown to increase insulin production, which is vital for diabetics.

The same goes for ginger, it can be eaten in foods or boiled as a tea. Both cinnamon and ginger now come in teabags, which makes it even easier to drink.

Diabetes is a very serious illness, thus one needs to discuss the use of these above mentioned herbs with a doctor. The medical professional will be able to advise whether it should be taken in moderation, or not at all.

Our blog posts focus on the use of herbs as an addition, or even replacement to expensive clinical medicines.
